Ruffles

AttI wore this outfit in Chicago the day that Robert and I did all of the super touristy things. We went to the Willis Tower (aka the Sears Tower), the bean, the Art Institute, and Navy Pier. That day consisted of way too much walking so I was glad when we finally made it to Navy Pier for some frozen drinks!

On Saturday August 11th I'll be having a blogger party at my favorite store Clothes Hound in Raleigh, NC. If you are in the Raleigh area and would like to attend send me an email at headtotoechic@gmail.com. There will be a discount for everyone that attends and Clothes Hound will provide drinks and some food. I would love to meet you, and you don't have to be a blogger to attend!

Sugarlips

I'm taking a short break from my Chicago outfits to share what I wore over the weekend while vising my in-laws. We had the perfect weekend shopping and watching the Olympics. Sugarlips recently sent me this top and I didn't realize how flowy it was when looking at the website. They were kind enough to send me a smaller size and I was really impressed with their customer service. Sugarlips has a lot of really cute tops and dresses so make sure you check out their website if you haven't before!

Green Peplum

Here's another outfit I wore in Chicago, and I think have a serious addiction to peplum. That day we met up with Cait from the blog Pretty & Fun for brunch. Cait and I have been talking on twitter for a while so it was great to finally meet her while eating some red velvet pancakes! The hubs and I then ventured off to visit the Taste of Chicago festival and then went to the Shedd Aquarium which was seriously amazing (thanks for the recommendation Laura!). Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

Bow Print

I wore this outfit in Chicago on our anniversary. We went on an architecture boat tour and then went out for a fancy lunch after that. We knew we wouldn't be able to have a nice dinner that night since the hubs took me to a Cubs game. I'm a big baseball fan and the fam and I love the New York Mets! The Cubs played the Marlins on our anniversary which means we go to see Jose Reyes (formers Mets player). Our anniversary was so much fun and I'm glad we got to spend it in Chicago!

No necklace. Weird, right?

I'm Back

After taking a week off from blogging, I'm back! The hubs and I took a trip to Chicago to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and got back late Thursday night (if you missed my post on our wedding and the fire you can read about it here). We had an amazing time and did all of the super touristy things like visiting the Willis Tower and Wrigley Field. We were actually supposed to get home Wednesday night but had quite the ordeal with a canceled flight and overbooked hotel room. One thing I learned from all of that is to always have a change of clothes in your carry on and that the hubs and I are perfect together because we didn't fight or bicker through the whole process of trying to get home.  I'll be sharing my outfits I wore on our trip for the next week or two and will also share some of our pictures we took on our trip at the end of this post.

Guest Post: Because Shanna Said So

I'm taking the week off from blogging to celebrate our wedding anniversary and am so happy to have Shanna (aka my blog BFF) guest posting for me today!  She is looking gorgeous as usual, and I want to borrow these earrings! Thanks for taking over for me today Shanna!

Hi, lovelies, I'm Shanna from Because Shanna Said So. I have made an appearance here a time or two and I am so happy to be back today while Angela is away on a vacation. I hope she brings me back a souvenir!

So, we all know there are so many fashion trends out there right now. I mean, it's gotten a little cray-cray and can be overwhelming to keep up with. We have color blocking, pattern mixing, neon hues, hi-lo hems, floral prints, nautical, arm parties, statement necklaces and the list goes on. Sometimes we get so caught up with today's trends that we forget about our simple pieces. Simplicity is timeless, classy, sophisticated and effortless.  You know what they say, "sometimes less is more". That is what I kept in mind when putting this outfit together. I took a pair of statement earrings and let them be the focus of my outfit. I added one bracelet (no arm party needed), a ring and nude accessories. All of the pieces are staples and can be worn no matter what the current fashion craze is. So, the moral of this little story is, it's okay to K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Sister).

Dress: Francesca's | Belt & Shoes: Target | Earrings; Kendra Scott | Ring and Bracelet: F21

Stop by and see me sometime! I love making new friends and discovering new blogs!

Guest Post: The Other Side of Gray

I'm taking the week off from blogging to celebrate our wedding anniversary and am so happy to have Annie guest posting for me today! I absolutely love her and her blog (she is seriously the Queen of pattern mixing). Thanks for taking over for me today Annie!

Oh HEY guys! I'm Annie from The Other Side of Gray and I'm so happy to be here guest posting for Angela while she is off on vacation! Funny thing, I'm actually on vacation this week too! So in honor of VACATION, I thought I would show you one of the outfits I plan on wearing on my week of drinking rest & eating a ton relaxation.

I am actually a little obsessed with these boyfriend shorts...they are comfy AND neon. I should have known it would be love when I saw that combo. I decided to pair them with one of my other loves, chambray. And this is the outfit that I plan on wearing when I drag the hubs to the Mystic Aquarium. Isn't it perfect for feeding seals and touching fish? I thought so too. You know what it's also perfect for? OUTLET shopping! Yep - the hubs is going to LOVE this day of fun - baggy boyfriend shorts (his fave), being dragged around a big fish tank, and shopping. I think if I promise him some good food and beer afterwards though, everything will be OK...even when I try to sleep in my BF shorts :)

Cheers to vacations!

Our Wedding and a Fire

Two years ago today I married my best friend and love of my life (I know so sappy). This is going to be the longest post I've written, but trust me you will want to read this! This isn't your traditional wedding post that most bloggers write. Instead, I'm going to share with you everything that went wrong leading up to our wedding and on the wedding day itself. That's a little more interesting, right?

Robert and I were together for 4 years before we got married and were engaged for over a year to make sure we had enough time to plan our wedding without feeling rushed. Everything started out fine...picked the church, the reception venue, the cake, and my dress without a hitch. About two weeks before the wedding is when everything started to go wrong.....

I'm Catholic and Robert isn't, and we were getting married in a Catholic church. I received a phone call from the church secretary saying we were not allowed to get married in this church since Robert wasn't baptized Catholic. We had met with the priest a dozen times and went to a all day workshop and the priest always said this wouldn't be an issue. Naturally I was upset after receiving this phone call and luckily I have an awesome Mother. She called the church for me and it turns out there was a misunderstanding and we could get married there after all. Problem solved...or so we thought.

Next up, I ordered my dress about 9 months ahead of time and knew it would have to be altered because of how petite I am. Little did I know I was going to have about eight dress fittings before I could have my dress. I wasn't able to pick up my dress until 2 days before the wedding and it still didn't fit quite how I hoped (talk about stressful). Oh well, I'm sure I'm the only one that can really tell anyway and I did love the dress so much.

Then cue the biggest mishap of the entire wedding. Everyone arrives to the rehearsal at the church that my family has been going to ever since we moved to North Carolina from New Jersey. We walk in the church and all of the the lights are out. I just figured they turned them out because it's July and super hot. Boy was I wrong. Turns out the church had a FIRE and we weren't going to be able to have our wedding there. I didn't receive a phone call or anything and we were getting married the very next day. I just stood there shocked with tears in my eyes but knew I couldn't get mad at the priest. Luckily a church down the road was available or I don't know what we would have done.

Then the wedding day comes. I get to the church (late of course since I'm never on time for anything) and couldn't wait to see Robert. After I walk down the aisle and the ceremony begins the priest calls Robert the wrong name! He calls him Roger instead and I interrupted him mid prayer to correct him. Oops. I'll forgive the priest since he's 80 after all.

Then finally every time that we went outside to take pictures it poured!!! It was insane how much rain we got that day. We weren't able to take some of the outside pictures we wanted to but I love the umbrella shots that were taken and rain is good luck on your wedding day anyway!

After everything that went wrong that day, we definitely have a funny story that we're able to tell that shocks everyone. And after all, according to 'Sex and the City' having a not so perfect wedding leads to the perfect marriage. Regardless of everything that happened it was the happiest day of my life and I was so thankful to spend that day surrounded by everyone that we love. I love being married every day and can't wait to see what the future holds for us! Here are some pictures from our wedding (all pictures are courtesy of Nancy Ray photography).
