How To: Save Time in the Morning

Mornings are always a bit of a rush in our household! Before I head out of the door for work I do one of my Hammer & Chisel workouts, eat breakfast with my husband (granola and yogurt is our current favorite), and then I get ready for the day. I tend to run late, so there are a few time savers that I’ve started incorporating to help with this issue.

1. Clothing Rack

At the beginning of the week I like to hang up a few different outfit ideas on my clothing rack. I select a few dresses, tops, and pants that will get me through the work week. This way, I don’t stand there saying I don’t have anything to wear, and then proceed to try on 10 different outfits each morning. Investing in a clothing rack (this one was under $40) was a really a great decision for me! I also use it to plan outfits to feature on this blog.

2. Dry shampoo

I’m sure everyone has the same love of dry shampoo that I do! I finally learned that you don’t need to wash your hair everyday, and this actually helps keep your hair healthy. Not only does my hair feel healthier now, but not washing it everyday is a huge time saver. On the days that I don’t wash it, I’ll spray a little bit of dry shampoo to freshen it up. The one pictured below is seriously the best, and it doesn’t leave you with any white residue.

3. Carrying essentials in my purse

Since starting the 21 day fix back in January, I’ve been taking my health really seriously. Vitamins are really important to make sure that I’m getting all of the nutrients that I need, and I make sure to take them everyday. I have a makeup bag in my purse that holds my essentials (medicine, vitamins, lipstick, hair ties, etc.). This way if I forget to take my vitamins at home, I have a stash in my purse. The kind that I carry in my bag at all times are the Centrum Vitamints Raspberry that I pick up at Walmart. These vitamins are just like mints, so they are really ideal if you are on the go because you don’t need any water to take them with! I also have both the Centrum Vitamints Cool Mint and the Centrum Gummies which are both great if you’re busy and running out the door. Plus, they are a really fun way to take your daily vitamin!

    I definitely need a clothing rack haha. I'm guilty of the trying-on-10-outfits thing 😉 And I LOVE gummy vitamins so I'm a fan of that, too!

    I try to pick my clothes out the night before or at least have some idea of what I want to wear. I waste so much time standing in my closet trying to decide what to wear. I also use dry shampoo on the reg. It is a life saver!

    I love the clothing rack idea! I have one little hanging area in a separate area from the rest of my closet, and I like to hang what I haven't worn in a while there to remind me to pull it out.
