Travel Guide: Wrightsville Beach

For the past 2 years, my family has taken a vacation together to Hilton Head, SC (you can see my travel guide here). We absolutely love Hilton Head and had plans to go back this year, but we had to change our plans due to Hurricane Irma. We decided on Wrightsville Beach instead which we all absolutely love (it’s where Robert proposed to me), and it’s just a quick drive from Raleigh. I thought it would be fun to talk about where to eat, what to do, and where to stay in Wrightsville Beach, NC!

Where to eat:

Roko: This is a small Italian restaurant in Mayfaire that’s really popular so make sure that you have a reservation. My parents kept raving about this spot and they were definitely right! I had the lobster special when we went there for dinner, and it was definitely the best thing that I’ve ever eaten. I can’t suggest this place enough!

Bluewater Grill: This is where Robert and I always go whenever we are in Wrightsville Beach. They have such a gorgeous view of the intracoastal waterway with the best seafood! We went there for dinner one night and I had the coconut shrimp which was amazing as always. They also have live music a lot of time which is really fun!

Oceanic Restaurant: This restaurant is located right on the beach, so it’s the perfect spot to take a break for lunch and escape the sun for a little bit. We went there for lunch with my parents and Robert’s Granddad and we had a great time. We also took a walk out onto the pier after lunch and we couldn’t believe the gorgeous view!

Blue Surf Cafe: This is another great lunch spot that we were all pleasantly surprised by. It was located about 15 minutes away from our condo, but it was worth the drive. I had the black bean burger with their homemade ketchup and it was delicious!

Where to stay:

VBRO: We rented a condo through VBRO and it was such a great spot. It was oceanfront, had 3 bedrooms, and also had access to the pool so it was a great space for all 6 of us for the 4 days that were were there. It had pretty much everything we needed, and felt more like home vs. staying in a hotel.

Blockade Runner: I’ve never stayed here before, but I’ve been here for an Irish dance competition (I was a competitive Irish step dancer for over 10 years) and it’s a great location. I’ve heard such great things about it and I would definitely stay here sometime if it was just Robert and I.

What to do:

Relax on the beach: This is exactly what the doctor ordered. I’ve been pushing myself too much lately so it was great to sit on the beach underneath an umbrella and just relax with my family.

Shopping at Mayfaire: Mayfaire is such a cute shopping center with great shops, restaurants, and the best spot for ice cream (here).
