Eating Out With a Toddler

Eating out with a toddler can be tricky, but it isn’t something that you have to avoid! Charlotte is usually really good in restaurants, which we are so thankful for. We have learned some things that work really well for us when it comes to eating out, and today I wanted to share my tips:

1. Busy Baby Mat

The Busy Baby Mat is a game changer when it comes to eating out! It’s made of 100% food grade FDA approved silicone, which makes it the perfect mat to put on top of tables at restaurants. Charlotte is able to eat her meal right off of the mat instead of the table, which helps minimize germs too. There are 4 tethers that attach to the mat, and then can attach to toys and pacifiers. Charlotte goes through phases where she likes to throw everything on the floor, and the Busy Baby Mat keeps me from having to keep picking her toys off of the floor.

The mat has four suction cups on the bottom which allows it to stick to most surfaces including tables, high chairs, bathtub walls, refrigerators, windows, tables on airplanes, and shopping cart handles. It’s a great way to keep babies and toddlers busy no matter where you are! You can use the code HTTC for 15% off!

2. Snacks

I bring a pouch, and a snack cup filled with goldfish and veggie sticks whenever we go to restaurants. If Charlotte starts to get fussy and hungry before our meal is ready, it’s a great way to distract her with some of her favorite things.

3. Timing

Timing is key when it comes to going out to restaurants! It’s important to avoid going out to eat in the middle of nap time, and also close to bed time to minimize meltdowns. We always go out when Charlotte is at her happiest, which means she is pleasant during meal time.

4. Books

I’ve mentioned this a couple of times before, but Charlotte is obsessed with books (here are our favorites). One thing I’ve started doing is bringing books that have flaps with us on road trips, and in restaurants. It’s so cute to see her smile and giggle while ‘reading.’

What to Wear on Easter

It’s so hard to believe that Easter is this weekend! I’m looking forward to spending a lot of time with our families, and the fact that Charlotte is going to enjoy it so much more this year (she was only 4 months old last Easter). Today I wanted to share 6 different outfit ideas for what to wear on Easter this year. What to wear on Easter can be tricky because of the weather this time of year, and it also depends on what plans you have. With that in mind, I’ve featured a mix of casual and dressed up outfits below:

Tuesday’s Cravings: Blazers and Graphic Tees

Here are the items that I’m currently craving this week! One of my favorite outfits to wear recently is a graphic tee, blazer, skinny jeans, and a pair of mules. Sometimes a blazer can seem a little too stuffy, so I love how it can be dressed down with a graphic tee and a pair of jeans. I was doing some searching for some new graphic tees and blazers and I stumbled upon these that I absolutely love. Which is your favorite, and what are you currently craving?

Mediterranean Bowl Recipe

5 Minute Mediterranean Bowl-@headtotoechic-Head to Toe Chic

Lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun in the kitchen coming up with different meals to make and new recipes to try! I’ve been sharing some of them on Instagram stories here, but thought it would be fun to share one of my favorite meals on the blog today. We are still following the 21 Day Fix eating plan (you can read more about it here), so we are trying to stick with healthy and quick dinners. One meal that I make almost weekly is this 5 minute Mediterranean bowl. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients (serves 2):

1 cup of brown rice

1 cup of cauliflower rice

1 pint of cherry tomatoes cut in half

1 sliced cucumber

1/2 cup of banana peppers

1 can of rinsed garbanzo beans

2 tablespoons of hummus

2 tablespoons of tzatziki

2 tablespoons of olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  1. First, cook the brown rice and cauliflower rice. I always buy frozen brown rice and cauliflower rice that I can just quickly microwave to make things easier during the week.
  2. While the rice is cooking, cut the cherry tomatoes in half and slice the cucumber. Add them both into a mixing bowl with the banana peppers, then toss everything in olive oil and add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Grab a bowl and place the cauliflower rice and brown rice on the bottom. Add some of the tomato, cucumber, and banana pepper mixture on top, along with a few tablespoons of rinsed garbanzo beans.
  4. Finally, top your Mediterranean bowl with a tablespoon of hummus and tzatziki.
  5. Enjoy!
