Midi Dress for Fall

I recently bought this midi dress for fall and I’m in love! So much in fact that I bought this dress in the striped print as well. It’s the perfect dress to wear to the office with a pair of heels or flats, and once the weather cools down I’ll wear it with a cardigan or blazer as well. I’ve received a lot of compliments on this dress, and no one can believe I purchased it at Kohl’s for a steal of a price. It’s definitely a great dress to pick up if you’re looking to add a midi dress or some leopard print to your wardrobe!

How To: Style Naturally Curly Hair

How To: Style Naturally Curly Hair-@headtotoechic-Head to Toe Chic
My hair is naturally curly, but I’ve been using a flat iron to straighten it for years! I like to keep my hair shorter, and all the products I’ve used in the past didn’t work well and left me feeling like Shirley Temple. One of my friends introduced me to R + Co curl cream and this product is truly amazing! I love the way that it leaves my hair feeling soft and not crunchy like other products, and it smells amazing.

Here’s what I do to style my naturally curly hair:

1. Start with wet hair
2. I don’t like leaving my hair all the way down because it’s just a lot of hair and it gets in my face. I usually do this simple rope braid (you can see the tutorial here), or I’ll do a half-up top knot.
3. Once the braid or top knot is done, I apply the R + Co curl cream to the hair that’s still down,
4. I then define the curls by twisting pieces of hair and wrapping it around my finger,
5. I let my hair air dry, but you could also dry it with a diffuser,
6. I then finish with a little hair spray,

Pop of Leopard

This is one of my favorite outfits that I’ve been wearing lately! I really love this Target button down top that I own in both black and in white, and it’s perfect with these Old Navy jeans for an all black outfit which I’ve been drawn to lately. I also like wearing this outfit with these leopard mules  for a fun pop of leopard! I was on the hunt for the perfect pair of leopard flats last year, and I came across these at DSW which I absolutely love. They have such unique detailing and they are so comfortable! This is the ideal outfit for this time of year in North Carolina, and I’ve been wearing it to both work and to dinner on the weekends.

Toddler Activities

Charlotte will be 2 in December which is so hard to believe! She’s definitely a busy girl these days and is constantly on the move and is talking up a storm. We have a variety of different activities that we like to do together where she’s learning and also keeping busy. Here are some activity ideas to do with your toddler:

Toddler Activities-@headtotoechic-Head to Toe Chic

    1. Read: One of Charlotte’s favorite things to do is to read! She loves to grab a book, say ‘read’, and then sit down in my lap for us to read a book together. She will also often grab a book and look at the picture alone while I’m cooking which is so nice. We have quite the collection of books and we keep some downstairs, in her room, and in the car. The books that keep her busy for the longest are any books with flaps that she can lift. This Sesame Street book is here favorite.
    2. Practice the alphabet: Charlotte is obsessed with her ABC’s, and can say the whole alphabet (she likes to leave out a couple letters though). She’s constantly saying her ABC’s throughout the day, and we have a few alphabet books and this alphabet toy for her to practice with. Just a side note, she first learned her alphabet but us singing the song together each day.
    3. Go to the park: We have a few different parks nearby (Pullen Park is our favorite), and Charlotte would happily swing for hours on end.
    4. Blow bubbles: If you ask Charlotte what she wants to do today, she will always say bubbles! This girl is obsessed, and we have this bubble machine which makes it even more fun (and I don’t have to blow bubbles myself the entire time).
    5. Sensory bins: We’ve done a couple sensory bins, but this is something that I want to experiment more with. During the summer I filled up a bin with water, plastic fish, and measuring cups and she was in heaven. I want to try a bin with pom poms and measuring cups as well.
    6. Dance: We often play Disney music on our Amazon echo, and Charlotte and I will dance together. It’s so fun! She also loves to do ‘Ring Around the Rosie’ and the ‘Hokey Pokey.’
    7. Blocks: We have this set of blocks that she loves to build things with, and then of course knock it down.
    8. Play ball: We have a few different rubber balls that we’ll roll around inside, or kick around outside.
    9. Sing: Charlotte loves to sing ‘Patty Cake’, the ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’, ‘The Wheels on the Bus’, and more. It’s also a great way to keep her entertained in the car!
    10. Go on a walk: Charlotte and my Mom go on a walk everyday when I’m at work, and we’ll go on a walk together on the weekends too. Charlotte loves riding in her stroller, and looking at all of the houses and trees.
    11.  Animal sounds: One thing Charlotte loves to do is make animal sounds. I’ll go through the list and ask her what different animals say, and it always makes us laugh!
    12. Go to the science museum:We are so lucky to live near the North Carolina Life and Science Museum in Durham! It’s such a great museum with so many different animals including a butterfly house that Charlotte loves.
    13. Color:Charlotte’s new favorite thing to do is color! I’ll either give her a pack of Crayons or Crayola’s mess free markers and she’ll color while sitting in her highchair.
    14. Dolls: This girl loves her baby dolls and stuffed animals. She’s constantly pushing them around in her doll stroller which is just too cute.
